Panicum nigerense merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat. Nama ilmiah Panicum nigerense diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Albert Spear Hitchcock pada tahun 1930.
