Panicum pansum merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika. Nama ilmiah Panicum pansum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alfred Barton Rendle pada tahun 1899.
