Panicum pooides adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga kawasan tropis Afrika selatan. Nama ilmiah Panicum pooides diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Otto Stapf pada tahun 1920.
