Panicum rigidum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Socotra. Nama ilmiah Panicum rigidum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Isaac Bayley Balfour pada tahun 1883.
