Panicum xerophilum merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Kepulauan Hawaii. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan kakonakona. Nama ilmiah Panicum xerophilum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich Hermann Gustav Hildebrand pada tahun 1922.
