Papaver gorgoneum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Papaveraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Cape Verde. Nama ilmiah Papaver gorgoneum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama António Xavier Pereira Coutinho pada tahun 1914.
