Paspalum acutum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan hingga Amerika tengah. Nama ilmiah Paspalum acutum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Mary Agnes Chase pada tahun 1927.
