Perotis leptopus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Tanzania hingga Namibia. Nama ilmiah Perotis leptopus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Robert Knud Friedrich Pilger pada tahun 1933.
