Phaseolus acutifolius var. tenuifolius adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Arizona hingga New Mexico dan Meksiko (Baja California). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tepary bean. Nama ilmiah Phaseolus acutifolius var. tenuifolius pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Asa Gray pada tahun 1853.
