Physalis caudella adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Arizona timur hingga New Mexico dan Meksiko utara dan barat. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan southwestern groundcherry. Nama ilmiah Physalis caudella diperkenalkan oleh Paul Carpenter Standley pada tahun 1937.
