Picea abies merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Pinaceae (suku pinus-pinusan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eropa. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan norway spruce. Nama ilmiah Picea abies diperkenalkan oleh Gustav Karl Wilhelm Hermann Karsten pada tahun 1881.
