Pilea rugosa merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Urticaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Hispaniola. Nama ilmiah Pilea rugosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Olof Peter Swartz pada tahun 1852.
