Piper orthostachyum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Piperaceae (suku sirih-sirihan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Bolivia hingga Brazil. Nama ilmiah Piper orthostachyum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1841.
