Piptatheropsis pungens adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan subarktik Amerika hingga Amerika Serikat bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Piptatheropsis pungens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Torrey pada tahun 2011.
