Piptatherum holciforme adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mediterania timur, Asia tengah, Jazirah Arab, Eritrea, hingga Ethiopia. Nama ilmiah Piptatherum holciforme pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich August Marschall von Bieberstein pada tahun 1817.
