Piptocarpha leprosa merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, hingga Brazil timur dan selatan. Nama ilmiah Piptocarpha leprosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Friedrich Lessing pada tahun 1873.
