Piptochaetium hirtum adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Chili tengah. Nama ilmiah Piptochaetium hirtum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Rodolfo Amando Philippi pada tahun 1873.
