Pityopsis ruthii merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Tennessee tenggara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan ruth's goldaster. Nama ilmiah Pityopsis ruthii pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Kunkel Small pada tahun 1933.
