Platanthera grandiflora merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Orchidaceae (suku anggrek-anggrekan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada bagian timur hingga Wisconsin dan Pegunungan Appalachian. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan greater purple fringed orchid. Nama ilmiah Platanthera grandiflora diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jacob Bigelow pada tahun 1835.
