Platanus occidentalis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Platanaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada tenggara hingga Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan american sycamore. Nama ilmiah Platanus occidentalis diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
