Plectocephalus varians merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eritrea hingga Ethiopia. Nama ilmiah Plectocephalus varians pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Achille Richard pada tahun 1966.
