Pogostemon brachystachyus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya timur hingga China (Yunnan). Nama ilmiah Pogostemon brachystachyus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Bentham pada tahun 1848.
