Polylepis crista-galli merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Bolivia hingga Argentina. Nama ilmiah Polylepis crista-galli diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich August Georg Bitter pada tahun 1911.
