Polypogon australis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Amerika Selatan bagian selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan chilean rabbitsfoot grass. Nama ilmiah Polypogon australis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Adolphe-Théodore Brongniart pada tahun 1829.
