Polypogon viridis merupakan tumbuhan menahun atau semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Macaronesia, India barat laut dan Somalia, Eropa selatan dan selatan-tengah, hingga China (Yunnan). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan beardless rabbitsfoot grass. Nama ilmiah Polypogon viridis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Antoine Gouan pada tahun 1966.
