Porphyrostemma chevalieri merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat, Chad, Zambia, hingga Zimbabwe. Nama ilmiah Porphyrostemma chevalieri diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Karl August Otto Hoffmann pada tahun 1931.
