Posidonia oceanica adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Posidoniaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh di air (hidrofit) dan membentuk akar rimpang. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Mediterania. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan mediterranean tapeweed. Nama ilmiah Posidonia oceanica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1813.
