Potamogeton friesii merupakan tumbuhan semak dari famili Potamogetonaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh di air (hidrofit). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah belahan bumi utara yang beriklim sedang . Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan fries' pondweed. Nama ilmiah Potamogeton friesii pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Franz Josef Ruprecht pada tahun 1845.
