Potentilla pulcherrima merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada hingga Amerika Serikat utara dan barat-tengah. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan beautiful cinquefoil. Nama ilmiah Potentilla pulcherrima pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Georg Christian Lehmann pada tahun 1830.
