Protea cynaroides adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Proteaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Provinsi Cape selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan king protea. Nama ilmiah Protea cynaroides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1771.
