Prunus hortulana merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan hortulan plum. Nama ilmiah Prunus hortulana diperkenalkan oleh Liberty Hyde Bailey pada tahun 1892.
