Prunus samydoides merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Meksiko. Nama ilmiah Prunus samydoides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Diederich Franz Leonhard von Schlechtendal pada tahun 1839.
