Prunus spinosa adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa, Asia tengah, Iran, hingga Afrika barat laut. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan blackthorn. Nama ilmiah Prunus spinosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
