Psychotria foetida merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Rubiaceae (suku kopi-kopian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Jamaika. Nama ilmiah Psychotria foetida pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach pada tahun 1861.
