Psychotria franchetiana merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Rubiaceae (suku kopi-kopian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kepulauan Society (Tahiti). Nama ilmiah Psychotria franchetiana diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Emmanuel Drake del Castillo pada tahun 1890.
