Rhagadiolus edulis merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mediterania hingga Iran. Nama ilmiah Rhagadiolus edulis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Gaertner pada tahun 1791.
