Rhamnus japonica adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Rhamnaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Jepang (Hokkaido, Honshu barat). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan japanese buckthorn. Nama ilmiah Rhamnus japonica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Maximowicz pada tahun 1806.
