Rhododendron atropurpureum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma pegunungan tropis di wilayah Papua New Guinea. Nama ilmiah Rhododendron atropurpureum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Hermann Otto Sleumer pada tahun 1960.
