Rhynchospora scutellata merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Nama ilmiah Rhynchospora scutellata diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach pada tahun 1866.
