Ribes atropurpureum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Grossulariaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Siberia hingga Mongolia. Nama ilmiah Ribes atropurpureum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Anton von Meyer pada tahun 1829.
