Rubus chrysophyllus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Sumatra hingga Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara. Nama ilmiah Rubus chrysophyllus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt pada tahun 1855.
