Rubus costaricanus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Guatemala hingga El Salvador. Nama ilmiah Rubus costaricanus diperkenalkan oleh Frederik Michael Liebmann pada tahun 1853.
