Rubus insignis merupakan tumbuhan perdu dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya timur hingga Assam. Nama ilmiah Rubus insignis diperkenalkan oleh Joseph Dalton Hooker pada tahun 1878.
