Rubus irritans merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Rosaceae (suku mawar-mawaran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Iran hingga China bagian tengah dan barat. Nama ilmiah Rubus irritans diperkenalkan oleh Wilhelm Olbers Focke pada tahun 1911.
