Ruellia brevifolia merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan) yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tropical wild petunia. Nama ilmiah Ruellia brevifolia diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Baptist Emanuel Pohl pada tahun 1989.
