Ruellia cyanea merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Madagaskar. Nama ilmiah Ruellia cyanea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Wenceslas Bojer pada tahun 1847.
