Ruellia elegans merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Brazil timur dan selatan. Nama ilmiah Ruellia elegans diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jean Louis Marie Poiret pada tahun 1816.
