Ruellia hypericoides adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Paraguay selatan hingga Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul) dan Argentina timur laut. Nama ilmiah Ruellia hypericoides diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1894.
