Ruellia pilosa merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Provinsi Cape hingga KwaZulu-Natal. Nama ilmiah Ruellia pilosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Linnaeus the Younger pada tahun 1782.
