Ruellia praetermissa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika. Nama ilmiah Ruellia praetermissa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Georg August Schweinfurth pada tahun 1894.
